After 3.5 years of suffering unspeakable pain, enduring a failed lumbar surgery, and trying every conventional therapy known, I was finally diagnosed with Piriformis last week (I at least have a diagnosis now after years of doctors appearing clueless as what to do for me). I recently found a new neurosurgeon and he prescribed a "Muscle Stimulator" that is designed to reeducate the muscles so they will return to there normal relaxed position, which will in turn, eleviate the nerve ending pain, as well. I have not received my unit yet, but I spoke with the sale rep who, herself, is a former Piriformis sufferer. In fact, the unit worked so well for her that she gave up her career as an RN and is now working for the company who sells them. She said she saw a complete turnaround in in one week and is now living a normal, happy, and almost 100% painfree life. Since I don't have my unit yet (it should arrive Monday) I cannot give you my own personal testimony regarding its effectiveness. However, after hearing the sales rep's experience with it, I have once again found hope after three and one-half years of hellish pain and torment. I would recommend that you contact your neurosurgeon and see if he/she would prescribe one of these units for you. Also, please beware of those listed on the internet, because many of them are NOT medical quality units, and therefore, have the potential to fall short of those designed for medical purposes.
