When I was 19 (I'm 37 now), I was sick with an undiagnosed illness for nearly a year that made me constantly exhausted and run a low-grade fever every night. My doctor seemed to dismiss it. Since then I have been unable to drink any alcohol because it leads straight into a period of sickness, and I still have cycles of good health followed by terrible fatigue. All the doctors who I've seen have made me feel this problem is in my head, I think because they can't figure it out. I've been tested for HIV and came up negative. Now, for the past three years, I've been plagued by cycles of sore throats and fatigue. I'll have a month of sickness where I can't exercise at all and a month or two of ok health. I'm now reading of Epstein-Barr and wondering how I can seek a diagnosis. (I was in bed for over a month with mono as a child, and I've been told by a doctor that I cannot have mono again.) I am a teacher and have to be "on" all day long, which doesn't help. I'm feeling desperate to get better, and would change my diet or take B-12 shots if I thought it would help. What can I do??? Thanks, Paul
