My name is Kari, I am 21, and this is my first post here. The other day, my mother just informed me that when I was 6 months old, I had facial cellulitis. She said that my face started swelling up, and turned purple/blue. She said when we got to the hospital, the doctor's thought I had been beaten. (This was in 1982). My mom told me that the cellulitis was so severe, that there were times they thought I was going to die because I could not breathe on my own. (I think she said that it was in my sinuses too?) She said at one point, the family all came up to the hospital because they thought I would not make it. Since I was informed of this a few days ago, I was trying to do a little research on this disease, but have not come up with much. I wish I would have known about this sooner. I guess one of my MAJOR questions would be...since I've already had cellulitis as a baby, and it was a severe case, is it likely, or possible for me to get this again? This concerns me. I also read that *some* people with weak immune systems can get this too. Would that happen to be true? I also suffer with bouts of Crohn's Disease, and mild Psoriasis. I would like to know more about Cellulitis...how you can get it...how to tell if you have it...and how to prevent a re-occurance. Any information that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.
