two weeks ago I was diagnost with pink eye. I was given prescription eye drops for it. I finished the recommended length of treatment. Four days later I developed a blister on my lip. It has continued to spread. My whole right side of my face is now swollen down into my neck. Today I experienced tightness in my throat and pain starting on the left side of my neck under the jaw, continueing down my neck and along the jaw line moving towards my chin. Earlier tonight I went to my local ER. I was told that I have impetigo. My right eye was the one infected with pink eye and the right side of my face has been sore ever since the infection began. My question is: Is there a link between pink eye and impetigo? Could the infection traveled down my face causing the impetigo or could I have touched my eye and touched my lip spreading the infection and causing the impetigo? My lips have been chapped and cracked. I would appreciated any input and information you might have about this. Also, if there is no conection between the two, what would have caused the impetigo infection? I have not been around any children or adult who has impetigo. Thank you. Sincerely, Peggy L. High
