I just had mine removed Aug 25. I was scared to death to have it done, but I survived - am doing much better than I expected. We have 4 girls and my husband took the week off of work, I couldn't have recovered as well if he didn't. I was actually eating a couple hours after surgery. Eat lots of popsicles the 1st couple days. Day 5 and it still hurts, the soreness and ear ache. The hardest thing is not to be able to cough, it feels like something in the back of your throat that you want to remove. My ENT had told me that I would feel better thgan when I had the abscess on my tonsil from strep, I didn't believe him but he was right, although I was weak from not eating, I felt alot better. I think they say 2-3 weeks recovery, plan on at least 10 days of rest. I still get very dizzy and tired when out of bed for more than an hour. I will say I enjoyed childbirth more than this, at least I was on my feet the next day.
