I understand your concern over your ultrasound report...It really is a shame that they would give this to your prior to speaking to your doctor or without someone to answer questions... IF if was a cyst it would say "cyst"...If you needed to worry it would also be in CM's not MM. Follicles are normal! They are the little finger like things that help pass the egg from our ovary to our uterus during ovulation. Our ovaries are 2-3 CM's big. Generally when a cyst grows beyond that 2-3 CM's it does hurt... BUT even then surgery is NOT indicated until the cyst reaches 6-8cm...they size of a small orange. Not soTechnically speaking, the 20 mm follicle is just a speck... BUT your urinary pain sounds horrid and should be further evaluated! There is a condition called Interstitial Cystitis (nothing to do with cysts!!!) That is very commom yet not easy to diagnose unless you have "other" female problems. Put it in a search engine and compare your symptoms to what is listed... Then talk to your doctor...See a Urologist...There is treatment. Good Luck!
