Sounds like öral thrush, which is a Candida yeast infection. The medication is usually a "swish and swallow" type liquid form of nystatin - Babies often get thrush, as well as people with lowered immune systems. Another thing they use with the babies is called gentian violet, which is a purple liquid applied to the tongue and mouth. Check with your pharmacist to see if it is available over the counter.
