Hello, I suffered from folliculitus for about 1 1/2 years. All the doctors could do was to prescribe antibiotics which would control the outbreaks. I had a patch a little bit bigger than a silver dollar on the right side of my chin. I got off the antibiotics and pulled out all the follicles in the affected area(tweasers). I put iodine tincture around the area as I pulled these follicles out. The iodine seemed to mix in the blood during the process. I applied more iodine for a few more days after hot water washing. I haven't had so much as a zit in that area since. My outbreaks were very severe. It has been over a year now and I apoligize for taking so long to post. It would seem to me if you have an infection of the follicle then removing the follicle would remove the infection. I don't know if iodine has anything to offer in this situation but it was part of my process (perhaps it was for a moment during bleeding able to get down into the infected area an destroy the bacteria) I am not a doctor, just somebody that wanted to get rid of a horrible skin disease and did. I hope this can help someone. If your antibiotics didn't help you during the first 2 weeks get off them. They can do more harm than good. Good luck. If you have any questions feel free to emai me. jeff
