My husband had renal cell cancer and was also labeled terminal. When they use the word "terminal" it is supposed to mean 6 mo. or less. My husband had a fair quality of life for almost 2 years. At the very best most patients do not make more than five years depending of the severity. I hope all goes well for you and your father. I hope this answers some of your questions.
