My husband had the exact same thing for about 6 months. He said the crackling would drive him crazy. Finally, we tried "ear candling". It is weird but it worked. Most health food stores have these 12 inch cone shaped candles that you put in your ear and burn. The vaccuum caused by the candle suposedly pulls out infection, water, yeast, wax, whatever from your ear. It is cheap, too. About $2.00 per candle. Can't hurt to try...
