Hi, I was also on Duragesic patch for awhile, I asked to be taken off it and switch to something else because while you are on it, you can not be out in the sun for long periods of time, can't get it wet, and a couple of other drawbacks. I was on it for my lower back and leg pain, along with RSD in my right hand and arm. It did work, but during the spring and summer I like to be outside and with the patch, I wasn't allowed to. But if you go off the patch, you will go through withdrawals unless the doctor will prescibe you something to help so the withdrawals won't be bad. Believe me, I did go through withdrawals, but then I was put on the catapress patch to help the symptoms. I am now on methadone 10 mg every 6 hrs. and it is working just as good as the Duragesic patch and I can be out in the sun, water, etc. Neurotin, doesn't work for me anymore, guess I was on it for too long, but everyone is different, what works for one might not work for another. I also take Bextra twice a day with the methadone, and so far the pain is under control.I also do a lot of research on all my meds for the pros and cons, now I check them out before taking them. Good luck
