Eileen B. Curran, R.N.
As a Registered Nurse with high blood pressure, I can comprehend what your Mother is going through. Some times I do develop low blood pressure especially after surgery or when I'm sick. First of all, tell your Mother when she's getting up to do it very slowly. When getting up too quickly, dizziness will always occur because the blood supply to the brain will drop along with her blood pressure. Secondly and check with her M.D. first, find out if she has any Medical Problems that would contraindicate the use of salt in her food. Adding salt to her food would assist raising her blood pressure. Hopefully these 2 suggestions will help your Mother. Hopefully at the age of 80, this is her only Medical Problem. If you have any further questions, you may Email me Good Luck and God Bless all of you.
