I read on the net somewhere that dermographia is sometimes caused by a reaction to pennicilan. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I just found out yesterday that I have dermographia. My dermatologist said the average case lasts from 3-6 months, but after reading all of the messages here I'm really starting to think the worst. I just can't understand why this doesn't have a cure and why it isn't as wide known as other conditions of the skin. I have only been dealing with this for 2 weeks and I just can't fathom the idea of dealing with this forever. Before this I was a pretty, fun, full of life 23 year old. Now, I have become very anti-social, I don't want to go out and do anything fun anymore because I'm afraid of what others will think of me. No matter how many times I tell people it isn't contagious I know the still wonder. For those of you who have been living like this for awhile, how do you do it? Do you date? What do your signifigant others think? Is sex okay? I'm scared I will never live a normal life again and I will be alone. I'm only 23. I would love to chat with people in the NYC area about this. I need as much support as possible. I'm sorry this is so long. I just had to vent. :)
