I am a 40 year old white woman, who has been plagued with kidney stones for about 6 yrs now, and I am really getting tired of all the surgery, lithotripsy, and stents. This has been such a problem, and now it seems that for the past 2 years, I have had surgery, and/or lithotripsy every 5 or 6 months. I cannot deal with the pain anymore. Everytime I have surgery, they put stents in my ureters, and it kills me. The stents are just as painful as the stones themselves. My stones are too big to pass, and have never passed one on my own. This year alone I have had 3 srugeries, and I still have one in my left kidnet that moves occasionally, and my doctor is waiting to see if it passes, before he decides to do surgery. In the meantime, I am suffering. I bleed..EVERYTIME I urinate. It is nothing but blood. I get occasional acute pain, at the drop of a hat, that requires an er trip, or demerol and torodal. These meds do help with the pain, but I cant live like this anymore. I see my marriage getting weaker, because of my constant complaining, and my husband tries to be patient, but I think he is getting tired of it. We dont have much sex anymore, because my bladder hurts, because of the stones, and I worry about his fidelity and patience. I have looked for chat rooms about this problem, but to no avail. I have changed doctors, and this one seems to be as uninterrested as my first one. I know I just can not take anymore pain, stents, surgery, lithotripsy, and cystoscopes. I am almost crazy.
