My brother was injured in an automobile accident. He also had strained his lower back by attempting to stop a 300 pound tool box from rolling into the street. These two occurrences were 7 months apart. His back pain was excruciating a few months after the accident which happen after the tool box incident. He decided to have surgery. During the surgery his surgeon found "multiple, free floating disc fragements". My question is, has anyone else ever had the same situation with the disc fragments? To the best of my limited knowledge, disc fragments are caused by trauma such as an accident, and they are not caused by strain. If anyone knows for sure, please reply. Thank you, Denise
