I just wanted to stress how easy this disease is to catch and the dangers to an unborn child. My niece went to a casual get together in her 2nd Trimester and was exposed to Parvo by a little boy that the mother casually brought to this meeting. My niece caught it and hardly had any symptoms. The baby who had been fine on Ultrasound just a couple of weeks before also caught it and swelled up like a baloon! My neice was growing at a rate of one month a week! She had way too much amniotic fluid and the babies abdomen got so big her lungs couldn't develope. She was born at 28 weeks and weighed over 4 lbs. She barely had any lungs. Everything that could go wrong with the pregnancy and with the baby did. She lived less than 24 hrs. It was a very sad day and all because somebody brought their sick child too a meeting.
