My mom has had what the doctor says is rheumatoid arthritis for 10 years. Recently she insisted on being checked for Lyme disease and her test turned out positive. Her doctor said that it might be a false reading because of the arthritis but he's putting her on a test dose of doxyclycline for a month. We don't know what to expect--is it possible for the swelling and pain to improve after all this time?
