I am 58 years old, female. A little over 4 years ago, I tore the piriformis muscle loose from my spine and have been in terrible pain since. I have been living a nightmare of doctors, all kinds of pain medications, anti-inflamatories, physical therapy, spinal injections, botox injections, and have had to endure the look of disbelief on the doctors faces when nothing shows on the ex-rays that can be causing the horrible pain I tell them I'm experiencing. It is so hard for ME to believe that the doctors are so ignorant of this condition and how to diagnosis it. The only doctor I have seen, who is a pain specialist, that believes me does not know how to treat it. I live in Oklahoma and this doctor told me that I would have to go out of the state to get the surgery (piriformis tendon release surgery) done that will correct it, but he didn't know where. I HAD an A-1 credit rating but have had to file bankruptcy because I was unable to work due to the unbearable pain. I finally found a support group on the internet which someone had written in with an exercise that helps some. I have recently gone to work doing night audit at a hotel. I still cannot sit for more than a few minutes and this job requires standing for my whole 8 hour shift. In 1981 I had surgery on my right leg for Malignant Melanoma in which the lymph nodes were removed from my right groin and am not supposed to work at a job that requires standing, but it's this or lose my home. My ankle and lower part of my leg have starting swelling, so when I get home from work I put cold packs on them. I hate living this way and and am very depressed. I have prayed to God to just let me go to sleep and not wake up. No one believes me about how much pain I'm in constantly and no one in the medical field cares enough to try to help. I have been through 3 years of trying to get social security disability and have been turned down because the stupid ex-rays don't show this condition. If there is anyone out there who can tell me where I can get this surgery done where they will allow me to make payments, PLEASE let me know.
