I have not actually been dignosed with PCOS yet. However, my GYN is highly entertaining the idea. I have all the classic symptoms: overweight, excessive hair, irregular periods, etc... Over the last 4 months I have had this mysterious pain in my left side/back that radiated towards my pelvis area. I was diagnosed with things like kidney infections, bladder infections, kidney stones, etc... Still after four months this pain existed and even got worse. They did a CT scan (the 3rd one in 4 months)expecting to find more kidney stones, instead they found that my overies were packed with several small cysts. Bingo... this is most likly the cause of the pain that I have endured for this time. At one point I was hospitalized because of the pain and they did many tests. Pelvic ultrasounds, CT scan. IVPs, and much blood work. Nothing showed up... anyway, in two weeks my GYN is going to do a laparoscopy to remove the cysts and observe any other problems that might exist. After this proceedure he is going to change my birth control pills to treat the major symptoms of PCOS. Does this seem reasonable? I am afraid that I am not going to receive the right treatment, after all it took them four months to get this far. If you have any suggestions for me please let me know.
