Eileen, Registered Nurse
I have a Brother in Law that has M.S.; he had it for well over 5 years before it was finally diagnosed after having to me in with my Husband & myself. Even though he had been to various specialists, the M.S. diagnosis was never made. While getting progressively worse while living with us, my M.D. examined him and made an appointment with a Neurologist for 1 month later. One week later he again was having a severe problem. Phoned my M.D. who told us to take him to the Emergency Room for further workup. At that time David was 58 years old and admitted to the Hospital. Within 3 days he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. David has been on at least 4 various Medications at one time or another along with Physical Therapy. He has had periods of Remission along with Excerbation. As of this date being June 11, 2002, there is no cure for M.S. Hopefully in the next 10 years there will be a cure. I heard the same news on T.V. regarding a cure for M.S. If you didn't hear all the news regarding this so called cure, you would definately suspect a cure has been found. These findings are in 2 other Countries not being the USA. There have been some break through findings which in time will develop a cure for M.S. but this is not anticipated to occur for at least 5 - 10 years time. I would definately suggest your Sister go to either a Neurolgist or M.S. Specialist if not already going to one. Being overly hot or humid can cause more problems with M.S. You may contact me if you have any further questions. Itoo am praying for a cure for M.S. Good luck and God Bless.
