I am a certified hand therapist and the bottom line with braces is most of the time they work but I do not have my patients wear them during the day. There is some sort of inflammation in that tunnel and the tendons that go through there need to rest. By wearing them at night you are maintaining your wrist in a position that keeps the carpal tunnel at its widest. If I have my patients wear splints at night for 2 weeks and there is no change in symtoms then I suggest they return to their MD to examine other options.
