Anyone have bartonella/Cat Scratch Disease? I found out recently that I have it and probably have had it for twenty or so years. I have fibromyalgia, early menopause, irritable bowel, psyciatric/depression issues, arthritis, chronic fatigue and the list goes on. All of these problems may be caused by the bartonella. I was just put on doxycycline three times a day and may need to be on it for six months. I also have to take acidophilus because the antibiotic kills the good bacteria too causing diarrhia, which doesn't help the irritable bowel. My doctor suggested a hypoglycemic diet because the bacteria feeds on sugar. I hope this info helps anyone else out there who is suffering from this awful disease. Also, during treatment you get worse before you get better. It's called herkshimer(?) reactions. The dormant bacteria gets riled up and you feel pain everywhere. Just don't give up.
