About a month ago, our primary care pysician (PCP) gave my wife ACTONEL 35mg to be taken once weekly, to guard against possible osteoporosis. But 10 hours after taking just one tablet, my wife, age 86, got tinnitus. I immediately reported this reaction to our PCP, and he ordered the patient to discontinue taking the drug. One month later today, the ringing still persists in both her ears. I wonter whether this tinnitus is the direct side effect of taking ACTONEL. The doctor can't be absolutely sure, although he said it could be or might be. Anyway, he will refer my wife to an ear specialist soonest. What do you think are the possible "culprits" for her tinnitus. Any comments? Thanks.
