Tammy They took me off all statin meds,(lipitor provachol) and the like.I am now on Whel Chol it works thru bile not liver.You dont have to go for testing as it does not affect your liver.It drops the cholesterol (HDL)levels very slowly, I have been on it for 1yr.with no ill effects.The Prednisone therapy was for Polymyositis,I gained some weight but with diet I keep it in check I have regained some of my muscle function but it is a long road ahead as I am told.I visit Lahey monthly they are wonderful and they care. Hang in and explore all of your options. Good luck
