treatment for hypothyroid does NOT cause bone loss. If the TSH is not regulated then there can be a problem but the replacement therapy does not cause bone loss if you are regulated properly. The Thyroid Sourcebook by M. Sara Rosenthal, fourth edition, is a great source of information. Mary Shorman(spelling) has a book out called What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Hypothyroidism, But You Need To Know. She is also the expert on about thyroid.com. Look around, ask around, and if you are not getting the results you would like from your doc...you can fire him/her and take your business elsewhere. keep searching and good luck to your daughter.
