You did the right thing by gong to a gastroenterologist. My husband age 79 has been having a colonoscopy every 2-3 years, and sometimes polyps are found & removed, sometimes not. I believe they are biopsied each time. This time, a tumor too large to remove by colonsocopy was discovered. Even though the biopsy showed no malignancy, he was still scheduled for surgery to remove this growth. He has just undergone a hemicolectomy, and the colon has been reconnected internally (no bag needed).
