I have had HPV for 8 years. Initially, I had the warts but I had them removed. I am now 8 months pregnant with my second child and the warts are back. I have had absolutely no problems for 8 years and now they're back. I also found out this year that I have severe dysplasia on my cervix. So, I will have to have a procedure called LEEP done to have the top layer of cells on my cervix removed. It is very important to have yearly pap smears if you have HPV. I had my warts treated 8 years ago and am still having problems. If I wouldn't have had a regular pap I could have cancer now. HPV is treatable...not cureable. You can get rid of warts, but you will always have HPV. There is no cure. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.
