I'm 49 years old and had a cataract removed from my left eye last June I'm scheduled to have the cataract in the right eye removed in March. I had a terrible reaction to the eye drops that they put in my eyes to numb it to do the measurements last summer and so when I had the surgery they were not able to numb the eye like it should of been done and I felt alot of what was going on and it wasn't pleasant. I asked if they would put me out this time and they said they don't like to put anyone out that there are more complications from that. However, I didn't like have to squeeze the hell out of the anthesoligiost hand either. He had me squeeze tight everytime they knew there would be pain. They said they'd give me something to relax me more this time so I'm not so aware of what's going on. Has anyone else had a reaction to these drops? I think they called it Alacaine. My eyes itched, got red and were sensitive to light. Had to make a special trip to the doctor and get antibodics for them to clear it up. GOod thing it happened before the surgery, because he said it is the same thing they used for the surgery. Has anyone been out completely for the surgery and have complications?
