I got my first wart about 18 months ago, as a result I think of taking some medication which suppressed my immune system. I now have about 40 around my anus, the largest of which is about 1cm in diameter. Most of the others are half the size or smaller. I am going to have them surgically removed, but am really terrified of the pain i will experience afterwards, as it would appear that in removing the "root" of the wart, the surgery leaves a wound, or 40 wounds in my case. Initially I had tried going to the STD clinic for regular freezing treatments, but the warts soon seemed to get immune, and I was horribly embarrassed going there each week (I even saw someone I used to work with which was awful for both of us). I then went to a specialist in chinese herbs who swore that he had a treatment which had cured alot of people. It consisted of boiling up hornets nest (yes, thats right!), and soaking the warts for 15 mins twice a day. Some did drop off, but I have finally given up on the treatment. I too feel like a kind of lepper and have had to turn my back on guys who might be interested because I don't want them to know. The thing that keeps going through my head is WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS. I knew all about HIV and VD, but i'd never even heard of these warts, and when i got them i thought, "oh, ok, warts, no problem, clear them up in no time". It wasn't for a couple of months that I realised what a lifelong nightmare this had become. I live in England and I cannot believe that there has been no publicity about this condition whatsoever. Theres TV advertising about Chlamydia, but nothing on HPV which can cause cancer for heavens sake!!!
