I recently had a sigmoidoscopy. It is a common test. The brochure they gave me said there could be slight cramping and a bloated feeling. If undue pain, proceedure would be stopped. This was a major medical center and I assumed a gastronolagist was doing it. Only to find out later he was a gp who majored in sports medicine in school. I have never experienced so much pain and I have had 4 full term pregnancies. I was screaming at him to stop and he wouldn't. At the end he found a polyp and tried to get a biopsy and wasn't able to. I don't know if the pain and his inability to obtain a biopsy was due to his inexperience. But I do know he should have stopped when I told him to. Has anyone else experienced extreme pain having this test? I feel I have been raped. Whenever I think about it I cry. The doctor left the room before the nurses sat me up. I really feel he knows he made a mistake. There is no way I am having any kind of test like that again.
