I have sclerosing cholangitis and although the only 'cure' is a liver transplant there are some medical treatments that can help if a transplant is not possible. If there is a major blockage in the bile duct then doctors may be able to relieve it by doing an ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde choangio pancreatagram)this involves having an endoscopy under sedation and x-rays taken of the bile ducts. Also taking a drug called ursodeoxycholic acid can be very helpful. (I'm not sure of the brand name in US but your Aunt's Doctor will. She needs to see a gastroenterologist or hepatolgist who is most qualified to deal with her problems. I hope this helps a little. Do e-mail if you would like further information.
