Hi; You're my second letter on this problem this a.m. The condition is caused by inflammation of the cartlidge between the ribs, and the inflammation must be treated with an anti inflammatory in order to gain relief. I've had it for years, used to have more frequent flair ups, not anymore, likely because I'm on a daily dose of Feldene for Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is excruiatingly painful at times, I can remember sitting up in bed to sleep because any change in posture was virtually impossible with the pain. This is very treatable, I hope your dr has the right answers, if not, get another opinion.
