Hi, Unfortunately listening to the popularly taught food pyramid may be bad for you. It says that you should have 10-11 serving of breads, pastas, and cereals. These foods have alot of sugar typically, also anything with flour makes your insulin levels rise dramatically. To a person in your condition, I would recommend that you not have ANY carbohydrates that are not from vegetables. No fruits, sodas(even zero calorie), breads, cereals, pastas, rice etc. Only proteins and fats(meats, beans) and vegetables (without a dressing). Ideally this would be the best thing for you to do-you may even lose alot of weight and stop or slow your condition at the same time. However this way of eating (not a diet) is drastic for some people so take the change in steps. O and stop by and pick up some chromium picolinate in a vitamin store and follow the directions. I hope this helps :)
