Our daughter, Diana, was diagnosed with Scleroderma Morphea over two years ago. She has it on her forehead and the top of her head. We had plans to be in NYC for the Macy's Parade and my daughter's dermatologist recommended that we take her to Dr. Lebwohl at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. He confirmed the diagnosis, gave her cotisone shots on her head (which didn't work) and told us of a treatment in Birmingham, Alabama using a new UVA-1 light. We moved her to Birmingham (we live in Louisiana) and she had the treatment for about 7 months. It WORKED! The spreading of the Morphea stopped altogether and the scars she already had, even though they didn't go away, softened and lightened in color. She uses makeup to hide the scars and is once again the beautiful, happy-go-lucky young woman she was before. She also grew spiritually through her ordeal and has a faith now that she didn't have before. She's the most beautiful witness of a miracle I've ever seen. I don't know what your spiritual beliefs are, but the ONLY way we got through this was with prayers from friends and family and the faithfulness of GOD. The first thing I'd recommend to you is to start praying because you will need it to get through this, the second thing I'd recommend is to get to Birmingham as fast as you can. Sometimes this disease stops and sometimes it just keeps going until it covers your body. This treatment in Alabama is the only one of its' kind in the country from what Dr. Lebwohl told us. The Dr. on Alabama is named Elmets. He's wonderful! Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questons. I'll be happy to put supply all the information for you. God bless you!
