I have Hemochromatois. I had my physical and blood test done every year and really like the doctor. She was running scared of HMO, so all her patients were transferred to another doctor. The new doctor did my physical and blood test and he noticed that my iron was high. He did further test and I tested positive. He sent me to a specialist and they did a liver biopsy which indicated I had Heochromatois. The treatment was taking a pint of blood every week for 3 months until my level was down. Now I give blood every 56 days at the Red Cross. What would of happen if the new doctor didn't presue the test results. It pay to look at your test results yourself. Only after the new doctor diagnois me did I ask for all my previous results from the other doctor. I noticed she put O.K. on all the blood test that stated it was very high. My siblings have been test and are negative. You get it from a gene that both parents have. It has to come from both. If you don't do anything else, get your blood work done every year.
