Steve
First, I am no doctor, but I have been around children who have been diagnosed with adhd, and in my opinion diagnosed wrong. I have two children who are both very mild mannered and calm. My son who is eleven is especially mellow. Sometimes I wish he were more like me. An aggressive addrenilin junky. He would be able to do more of the things I like to do. Football, motocross, mountain bikes, etc. I wouldn't trade his personality for the world but I feel bad about leaving him behind sometimes. I guess my point is that if he were more "active" it would be easy for me to channel those behaviers in good directions. Children need to have their personality traits channeled in a direction that suits their individual needs. Your son may be the next Jeremy McGrath supercross rider, or the next all american linebacker. It takes unique personality traits to fill the shoes of our nations heros. The traits you are having trouble with may be the traits needed to help save lives or foil an attempted hi-jacking. Channel his traits for his future and guide him through the perils of youth sports. I coach all of the sports my son is in. Soccer, baseball, golf, and music. I often meet parents who are concerned about the dangers of aggressive sports. This is my responce. On an ESPN special about hunting, it was reported that the most dangerous sport for children is GOLF. For all of those "dangerous" sports, there is special safety gear to prevent injuries. If some sports seem to dangerous, research facts before a decision is made. Thanks for Listening, Steve
