I was diagnosed w/poly this summer by blood work through a wonderful Rheumatologist, Dr. Jay Warwick in Knoxville, Tn. He started me out on 60 mg. of Predisone, Imuran, Fosmax(75mg.once a week, water pill for swelling, Caltrate D 600 twice a day and an antiacid. I started out with severe pain in all my joints, could barely walk, couldn't raise my arms and had difficulty breathing(even when trying to talk). I have had great success with the medicines and am now down to 30mg predisone daily; had to stop the Imuran(liver count too high); going for more blood work tomorrow, maybe he will put me on something else instead. My joints no longer hurt and my muscles have almost returned to normal, except for a slight weakness in the calves of my legs. I have noticed that my face breaks out from the predisone and of course I look like I need to shave. I have noticed that my hair sheds a lot and at first I lost weight, but now I am gaining. I get very irritated and seem to get depressed easily, which I understand is from the medicine. I am sure that my husband hopes that is the reason. I seem to get tired a lot. I have continued to work and my boss and co-workers have been great. Many prayer chains are presently going and I feel that my prognosis will continue to improve. Let me know your treatments and prognosis.
