My heart goes out to the sufferer of the Cystitis. I too have suffered almost all my life. The antibiotics wipe out all the good bacteria. The natural "army" in the body is gone (the friendly bacteria). I discovered by taking Twin Lab Super Acidopholus by mouth once a day and vaginally once a day for 2 weeks, and then once a day by mouth and twice a week vaginally, it has restored the normal flora in my stomach and pelvic area. This is the only brand that has worked for me. I also abstain from things that will burn my bladder such as tomatoes, SOY products, too much coffee, mustards, CRANBERRY JUICE. Soy and cranberry juice were destroying my insides so bad because of the acid and fermentation. Thank God my urologist put me on a diet for interstitial cystitis and it works. I also use Estrace estrogen cream. Every other day, I take a very small amount and rub it around my vaginal/urethral area and it has helped me tremendously. I drink lots of water and I do not use a towel to dry my pelvic area. I use a blow dryer. Hot baths every night in a very clean tub also help heal the pelvic area. When having sex, be sure to wash before and after sex and make sure you pee afterwards to get rid of any germs inside. Keep your toilet disinfected by using bleach or a disinfectant spray on a regular basis. Back splash from the toilet can infect you also. Wipe from front to back. I also use Wet Ones to clean my rectal area. Good luck. It takes a lot of patience and action to get back in balance and it does not happen by itself.
