Hello, everyone. I suffered from severe body odor, sometimes with excessive sweating, for 18 years before I found out that I have a rare liver enzyme disease call Trimethylaminuria aka Fish Odor Syndrome. It took a long time to find out because I DO NOT SMELL LIKE FISH. Researchers have learned that not everyone who has this disorder smells like fish. The odor is variable for each person. Also, different people have it to different degrees, some not so bad, others can stink up a whole room in minutes. It's not about cleanliness. This disease is caused by the body's inability to break down certain proteins and it can start at any age. I was 20 when my problem started.
