To the teacher with concerns of aspergers. It obviously depends what level of aspergers we are talking about and the age of the child, however I can offer some tips that have helped my child. 1. Contact a time table of subjects onto the childrens desk and have it colour coded. for example english red and the book cover is red, maths blue and the book cover blue. You must remember these children are visual thinkers. 2. you need to give pre warnings, for excample, five minutes before the switch all children are warned 'we are going to do maths in five minutes' 3. Homework - the experts say don't worry about homework, it is not important it can cause them and their parents a lot of stress. Children with aspergers have a lots of trouble transfering this school activity into the home - after all school work in their eyes is something that should be done at school. If it is completly nessessary, it must be written down. If it is written down this too can be colour coded for each day of the week or subject. Alternatively, the experst also say, give the children the option of doing their homework before school, at lunch or after school - whilst at school, this helps them get around that mental block of school work is to be done at school. I sujest you get a hold of a book written by an Australian expert by the name of Dr Tony Attwood tittled " Aspergers Syndrome: A guide for parents and professionals" he has helped me enormously
