I had a pesky ganglian cysts on top of my foot 2" behind my little toe. My mother-in-law who has been in nursing for 30+ years told me to whack it with a book. She said these pesky little cysts are adjacent to joints and are fluid filled hollow sacs, that will be absorbed by the body once ruptured. After having the cyst for over a year, I thot, what the heck if it doesn't work I'll probably just have a small bruise for a while. I took a small rubber faced hammer from my tool box, took aim, and hit the cyst with a slight blow. That's all it took. The cyst has been gone for a year with no complications. I have other cysts in soft tissue on my upper arm and the middle of my back, which aren't candidates for this type of therapy. I believe this worked because there was a solid base of bone under my foor cyst where it could be easily popped with a glancing blow.
