Several years ago I was in a bad auto accident that left me with a serious spinal cord injury. After having three surgeries on my back and one on my neck the pain only seemed to get worse. The pain affected my ability to do even the most basic things. My legs were also affected and would sometimes just give out from under me. I went thru monthes of physical therapy..It did help with the leg problem, but the back and neck pain was still severe. I was put on several medications, including dilaudid 4mg..which I took every 4 to 6 hours. I also took anti-anxiety meds and muscle relaxers. Those meds did help, but not a whole lot. It was only until this past January when my neurologist started me on a drug called oxycontin that the pain has become bearable. The dilaudid was discontinued and now I take 80 mg of oxycontin three times a day along with muscle relaxers. Now I am hearing that oxycontin is under investigation because of people abusing it, and that it might be called off the market. Are any of you taking oxycontin for pain? If so do you know of anything about this med being re-called? I sure hope it is allowed to stay on the market because it is the only thing that will help my pain.
