My boyfriend had a herniated disc in June.He first went to his regular doctor and received a few days worth of anti-inflamatories, then went to the hospital and got a shot in his back(this hurts very much). The chiropractor was given a try--he could have popped something back in place -don't reccommend chiropractor for herniated disc. Also, ice packs were tried to reduce swelling. Next, he went to the neurosurgeon and the doctor put him on CELEBREX to reduce swelling and reccommended physical therapy. The physical therapist helped reccommend exercises that would help strengthen the back. The combination of ice packs on the back,CELEBREX and physical therapy really helped.I didn't think that he would EVER be back to normal. It's been 2 months and he is just about back to normal. He was considering surgery, but the CELEBREX seemed to keep the swelling down. Finally, after 2 months he went back to work.He went from agonizing pain, couldn't sit in any position, to just about being back to normal.Hang in there--it just takes time with a herniated disc.Donna
