hydrocelelectomy complications

Howard

Message 1 of 1

I had a vasectomy on December 10, 2000. It was complicatated by a prior existing condition I knew nothing about. A hydrocele of the left testicle. After much cutting and searching by the urologist a "vas" tube in the left testicle was not found. Two subsequent sperm counts were negative for sperm. A few months later swelling began. After 4 months it was another doctor check. Two Doctors agreed that it was not a problem. After another four months the same two Doctors were visited because the left testicle became larger. This time both Doctors stated that there was a problem. My primary care phys. referred me to my Urologist (same as vasectomy). He scheduled hydrocelectomy surgery on July 12,2001. The swelling went down two days after the operation, then the swelling went back up again. There was an infection. There was another month of complete pain and misery. I tried to go back to work after 2 1/2 weeks. I lasted four days, then back to the doctors. The doctor found a hematoma, and another need for a hydrocelectomy operation to provide more "ducts" for drainage. It has been quite an ordeal. The second surgery took place on 8-14-2001. I went to the Doctor today. "All looks well". There is still pain. Swelling has remained very low. Some draining is still occurring, the doctor says it will last at least two more weeks. I will go back to work on 9-4-01, if all goes well.
