If I am not mistaken, parethesia is a form of peripheral neuropathy. There are many causes for peripheral neuropathy. Some of the causes are diabetes, pernicious anemia which is a vitamin B12 deficiency. Often times vitamin B12 shots can clear this type of peripheral neuropathy right up. Also p. neuropathy can be a result of an auto immune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. Any repetative movement (RSI)including Carpal Tunnel is a form of p. neuropathy. Kidney disease, liver disease, underactive thyroid and exposure to toxic substances can lead to p. neuropathy, so can a tumor compressing on a nerve, which I would not worry about this because this is a much rarer cause. Bacterial or viral infections can cause neuropathy such as Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Of course I am NOT a doctor, and I have read what I have shared with you. Ask the doctor if Mexitil would help? It is a drug that treats heart arrhythmias but has been helpful to sometimes relieve the burning pain. I hope this helps. Denise
