At about week 16 of my pregnancy, I fell ill. I was not diagnosed immediately, as the symptoms were non-specific - stomach cramps, nausea, headache, slight temperature. Blood tests taken a week or so later showed only that I had a viral infection. Further tests indicated that the virus was cmv. I did not know this - or the potential risk to my baby - until I was 22 weeks pregnant. I have now had an ultrasound scan which showed no abnormality and an amniocentecis which showed no sign of the virus in the foetus. I have been told that the amnio test will have to be repeated later, as a test at 22 weeks is not definitive. Does anyone have any experience which may help me? Has anyone gone on to have a healthy baby after being infected with cmv in pregnancy? Paula
