To the person who just posted on sleep apnea and giving the machine a month to cure it. You must realize it takes a while to adjust from mouth-breathing (which you have probably been doing all your life) to retraining your body to breathe through your nose (like it is supposed to). It is normal to experience the dry nasal passages and other stuff for a while -- it's not permanent! You can't expect to adjust to the sleep machine in 30 days! It took my husband 6 months to adjust, which is typical, according to my husband's physician. But the adjustment time (discomfort) was well worth the effort!! My husband feels like a new man these days! Shortly after starting with the machine, we began using a portable room air cleaner, which seemed to help. Also, his doctor gave him saline nose drops for moisture and Claritin D to keep his nasal passages open. They helped a lot, too. Try everything you can before you give up on the sleep machine. The alternative is surgery, of course, which doesn't always work and/or might have to be done again later. I really hope you decide to give the machine a real good try before giving up. Sometimes switching to a different type of sleep machine can make all the difference. My husband uses a bi-pap -- what did you try? Good luck. -Gina Lynn
