We have a 16 month old who has been diagnosed with eczema, but, it seems that it may be more extreme. She often breaks out (3-4 times a week) in a hive like rash. That leaves her skin flaming red (to the point of resembling burns) and full of welps. It literally becomes so irritated that she cannot sleep through the night. She awakes constantly scratching her skin and telling us "itchy, itchy", it becomes so irritable that she cries tears and flails her limbs in discomfort/pain. We have been to a pediatrician and a dermatologists, who both have perscribed a plethra of creams and ointments (ranging from Benadryl to steroidial type treatments) to no avail. Any suggestions (treatment/prevention) would be benificial. We are scheduled to see an allergists in September (but that seems a long way off).
