I have been living with a S1 herniation since 1994. Now I herniated L5, L5 is also unstable. Been out of work since Oct of 2000 due for surgery July 23th 2001 about 13 days from today. Going to have screws placed on each side of the spine to hold L5 stable and have bone removed from my hip to place in L5S1 space. What will my first 4-6 weeks be like? Anyone know? I know I will spend about 5 days in the hospital & I got to walk everyday. But will I have limits on sitting up, bending, getting dressed, taking a shower? Will any or all of this stuff be affected?
