Janice, Hydrocephalus is a condition caused by an imbalance in production or absorption of cerebrospinal fluid. Plainly, it is a buildup or lack of absorption of fluid found in and around the brain and spinal cord. It causes pressure and enlargement of the skull. With improved care you don't see it as often as I did growing up. It can be caused a number of things, ask your doctor. There are treatments, however some times neurological and intellectual status is impaired.
